    Cast Off

Wesley got his cast off last week; just in time for T-Ball season.  He's extremely excited now that he got his new jersey.  His team is called The Scrappers and he looks great in his new uniform.  I'll post a couple of pictures of him in his outfit when I get home this evening.

    Broken Bone #2

It's hard to believe that nearly a year has gone by since Wesley broke his right wrist.  The scene is still very vivid in our minds (Orthopedic surgeons office, wrap the cast so it doesn't get wet, etc.).  Unfortunately, Wesley fell off his swing set last week and wouldn't you know it... he broke his left wrist.  Wesley is doing fine and taking the news well that he's going to have to wear another cast for about six weeks.  Jena and I are both hoping that two broken bones in less than a year is not a sign of terrible things to come in our little boys coming years!  He's just really into climbing and jumping which makes his parents very nervous given his history of mishaps.  Oh well.  I suppose its all part of being a parent.  We'll post a picture when he gets his cast on tomorrow!

    Mississippi Snow

Can you believe it?  It snowed on Saturday for the first time in about 6-7 years!  Since Wesley had never seen the snow, we loaded up and drove to Nanny's house.  Wesley was so excited we started driving and he eventually began to see snow on the ground as we made our way North.  He was convinced that it doesn't snow here because it only snows at the North Pole.  We arrived at Nanny's and he was anxious to get in the snow and have a snowball fight.  It was a great day and one I'm sure we'll remember for years to come.  I snapped some pictures so check out the picture gallery.

    2008 Is Here!

Well 2008 is here and 2007 is now in the books.  What a year it was!  Unfortunately, Jena had to work on Christmas day, however, she did get to spend the morning with us before she headed out the door.  Wesley was so excited on Christmas morning and Jena was so glad that she at least got to see his face when he saw what Santa Claus brought him.  What did Santa bring him this year?  Only his most requested gift.  A workbench of course!  And not just any workbench mind you.  No.  This workbench has a work surface that can flip over.  So on one side he works with his power tools to grind and cut, and the other surface has an engine mounted to it so that he can work on it.  He loves it.  Santa also brought him a stocking filled with goodies, a smart cycle ( an electronic stationary bike that requires you to pedal in order to play the number and word games ), books, and clothes.  After Jena headed off for work, Wesley and I packed up and headed to Mom's house.  My sister and her husband from Texas also came over for a long overdue family holiday.  We arrived at Mom's house and were immediately greeted at the door by wonderful smell's of "Mom's cooking".  You know I'll never tire of that Mom!  Wesley squealed with delight upon seeing Grandma & Grandpa.  Wesley immediately wanted to know where Aunt Pam and Uncle David were.  Sorry Pam and Dave - Maybe he truly wanted to see you guys and or it was time for presents and he knew he couldn't start until you guys got there!  It wasn't long until everyone arrived and we exchanged gifts, talked and had a Great Meal.

Wesley and I had the rounds to make so next stop; Nanny and PawPaw's.  We walked in the door to a crowd.  Grand Nanny, Grand Pawpaw, Cousin Will, Uncle Gary, Uncle Joel, Uncle Ricky, Aunt Kim, Nanny, & Pawpaw.  Wesley was now in heaven because he had a captive audience!  But the highlight had to be when Wesley got a gift from Uncle Joel.  You see, Uncle Joel has been hard at work restoring an old 1950 Ford Custom.  Wesley calls it the Hot Rod!  Uncle Joel gave Wesley a Ford Hotrod pedal car that is all metal and must weigh 20-30 pounds.  Wesley Loved It.  It wasn't long until Pawpaw, Cousin Will, and I were "assisting" him up and down the road by their house.  Anyway - Great Times.

Finally, it was time to go home and see Momma!  It wasn't long after we arrived home that Jena came in as well.  Since it was Christmas, she said that the hospital was naturally slow.  We sat by the tree and exchanged gifts with each other as a family and I had time to reflect just how grateful I am to have a wonderful family.  A beautiful wife, kind and loving Son, Great Parents and In-Law's.  What more could a person want?  Thanks to everyone who gave us a wonderful day!
